Our pastor is a native of Scotland who served as senior pastor and head of staff for 18 years at Kirk in the Hills, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He started at Christ Church on December 1, 2014. Norman was educated at the University of Glasgow and received his doctorate from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, in 1991. Early in his career he served significant churches in Edinburgh and West Kilbride, Scotland, and from 1979 to 1995, he was senior minister of The Scots Church in Melbourne, Australia. Norman and his wife, Joan, a retired educator moved to our area following his retirement late in 2014. They have two children, their daughter, Gillian, living in Ontario with her husband and two children and their son, Andrew who lives in California.
Robert S. RomanskiDirector of Music
Robert comes to us with outstanding credentials and experience. He was Director of Music Ministries at the Ruskin United Methodist Church since 2006, and is presently an Adjunct Music Professor at the University of South Florida, Barry University and Hillsborough Community College.
Prior to working at the Ruskin church, Robert was Director at the First Presbyterian Church of Brandon. He has been appointed as Director and Principal Conductor of the North Port Symphony. Robert has degrees in Music Education, conducting and Applied Music and has completed his course work in a Ph D. Music Education Program.
Rich RaymondFacility Manager
Rich brings a long and varied experience to the position of building management. A navy Veteran, Rich has owned and managed warehouse and retail space, and apartment buildings for many years. He has managed landscaping and maintenance of the planned community where he lived in Ft. Meyers and served as a Board member there. He is an enthusiastic and energetic man and said that this job was exactly what he was looking for.
Susan ScottAdministrative Assistant
Susan Scott grew up in Virginia before moving to North Carolina where she lived for over 25 years. Her parents both graduated from Sarasota High School and her grandparents lived here as well. She knew the area well and moved to Florida summer of 2021. She has two adult daughters. She has a background in Finance and Accounting and is opening her own business too. She also has certifications in Personal Training and Nutrition. She enjoys walking, hiking, fitness, kayaking, cooking and traveling.
Bryan began keyboard studies on the organ at age 6 in his hometown of Bel Air, MD. At age 9, he was actively playing in church as a substitute organist and, at age 12, he assumed his first full duties as a church organist. He continuously served in that capacity for nearly 30 years, supporting congregations in Maryland, Florida, and Ohio. Upon relocating to Virginia in 2003, he served as interim and substitute organist to multiple congregations including Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, and Episcopalian. Moving to southwest Florida in May 2020, Bryan served as organist at the Burnt Store Presbyterian Church in Punta Gorda from June 2020 until January 2022. After taking a seasonal break, he assumed duties as organist at Christ Church, Long Boat Key on July 31, 2022.
Bryan obtained a B.S. Degree in Computer Science from Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, FL and a MBA from Loyola University, MD. He is a former U.S. Air Force officer supporting multiple large scale system acquisition efforts within the DoD. After departing the Air Force, Bryan pursued a career in IT, specifically focused on software/systems development for firms including Westinghouse, KPMG, BAE Systems, and Lockheed Martin. He retired from full time employment in November 2019 to enjoy life in southwest FL, focusing on music among other interests. Bryan is an active member of both the American Guild of Organists (AGO) and the American Theater Organ Society (ATOS).
